Fall Foliage road trip to New England?
- "Northeast Harbor" is a village on Mount Desert Island in the town of Mount Desert in Han County, Maine, United States. It is located at 44° 17. 75?N 068° 16. 90?W. It is one of the more remote villages on the island and does not experience the same crunch of tourist activity found in the neighboring town of Bar Harbor. It is recognized as one of the prettiest villages on the coast of Maine, highlighted by a remarkably beautiful harbor filled in summertime with spectacular motor yachts and sailing ships. The town of Mount Desert has a significant summer population, and has long been a quiet enclave of the rich and famous. Residents include David Rockefeller Seal Harbor, Martha Stewart Seal Harbor, and Brooke Astor. The local waters are dotted with charming islands and offer some of the finest sailing conditions in New England. People are drawn to the cooler weather and activities found in Acadia National Park which literally surrounds the village with its thick pine forest crisscrossed with miles of hiking trails and carriage paths. "Docksider" could be considered your cl ic Maine restaurant, with charming "Down East" waitresses, lobster to die for, unbelievable clam chowder
- Jeopardy is correct. anywhere around Bar Harbor area would be a nice place to go
- As far as I am concerned the Berkshires in M achusetts are really beautiful during the foliage, I know at the summit of graylock mountain, there are motels rooms and even cottages to rent. In the small town of North Adams there is a place called the Willows, beautiful place, very near the college town of Williamstown, from there I would pick up RT 7 through Vermont and up to Maine. Sorry, no lobster around there, you will have to wait to get to Maine!
